Microdermabrasion is a cosmetic procedure which considered a safe for most skin types and colours. It uses a special applicator with an abrasive surface (fine crystals) and a vacuum to remove the thick outer layer of the skin and also dead skin cells to rejuvenate it, and to renew skin tone and texture. It can be used on the face, neck, chest, back and hands. It can improve the appearance of sun damage, fine lines, wrinkles, minor scars, age spots and other skin-related conditions.
Microdermabrasion should not cause any skin colour changes or scarring. It does not work for more significant scarring, stretch marks or deep wrinkles.
You may need more than 1 treatment.
It usually takes between 30 and 60 minutes.
